Artwork is inspired by the well known fictional character Maria Clara of the novel “Noli Me Tangere”, which was written by one of the Philippine national heroes Dr. Jose Rizal. The seashell shape merged with her hair, pearls, blue and green colors represents the Dumaguete people’s affinity to marine life and it’s preservation. Art by Portia Nemeño, local Dumaguete city artist.
