“Kaayo sa Kayo” plays with the Bisaya tension between “kaayo” (goodness) and “kayo” (fire), challenging the way we often see flame only as danger. I return to the Alamat ng Gamo-gamo with this same intention: to open the deeper, less-told perspective of the story. Instead of reading the moth’s death as mere disobedience, I follow the interpretation embraced by Rizal — where the moth’s flight becomes an act of longing, a movement toward truth, freedom, and enlightenment. The light is no longer just a warning but a calling, something powerful enough to awaken and transform.
