Phil Gad Sabuga
About artist:
Jose Phil G. Sabuga is a talented artist hailing from Pamplona, Negros Oriental. With a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Foundation University (FU) in Dumaguete City, Jose Phil's artistic journey encompasses various mediums, including animation, installation art, pottery, photography, videography, drawing, and painting. However, it is through painting that he finds the greatest freedom to express his emotions and creative ideas, often incorporating techniques such as impressionism and abstract art into his works.
Exploring new horizons, Jose Phil has also ventured into pointillism using pen and ink, further expanding his artistic repertoire. His first solo art exhibit titled "TAGADAGAT" showcased his thesis work, employing the impressionism technique to depict the daily life of a fisherman. Additionally, he has participated in group exhibits alongside his college classmates, including the "Sinugdanan" exhibit, where he showcased six abstract paintings at Kri Restaurant.
Active in the art community, Jose Phil is a proud member of Dumaguete Visual Artists (DVA) and the Network Artist in Negros Oriental (NANO). In 2019, he pursued a graphic artist position in Cebu City, working for an exporting company. However, in 2021, his passion for art reignited, leading him to participate in art exhibits and fairs both in Dumaguete City and Cebu City.
Jose Phil's artistic journey is characterized by continuous growth and exploration, allowing him to create captivating and evocative pieces of art.
