About artist:
Jerald Junn T. Bongcawel, born on January 15, 2002, in Dumaguete City, is a self-taught artist whose passion for art began at a young age. Inspired by his mother's illustrations on the blackboard during his early childhood, Jerald discovered his love for drawing and embarked on a creative journey that would shape his future.
Starting with a single charcoal pencil and a small sketchbook given to him by his late grandmother, Jerald delved into the world of art. Initially drawn to impress a girl, his hobby soon transformed into a lifelong pursuit. Through continuous practice and self-study, Jerald honed his skills, exploring various artistic styles and techniques.
Jerald's artistic style draws inspiration from artists such as Samdoesart, WLOP, Rossdraws, and the visually stunning aesthetics found in games like Assassin's Creed. His focus often revolves around women, with a particular interest in Asian cultures, drawing inspiration from East Asian and Southeast Asian traditions.
While Jerald has yet to participate in formal exhibitions or shows, he considers his current project a significant milestone in his artistic career. His preferred medium is digital art, utilizing a graphic tablet to bring his visions to life. Embracing the philosophy of never giving up on a piece and being his own harshest critic, Jerald constantly strives to improve his skills and technique.
Jerald's journey as an artist hasn't been without challenges. Overcoming fatigue and finding a balance between his passion and self-care has been a recurring obstacle. Nevertheless, he remains determined to pursue his dreams and attain artistic immortality through his work.
With a deep-rooted desire to become a better artist than he is today, Jerald aspires to leave a lasting impact on the art world. For him, the true measure of success lies in the pursuit of happiness through art.
As Jerald continues to evolve as an artist, he looks forward to the future, where he envisions reaching new heights of artistic excellence and creating a legacy that transcends time.
