The mural is part of the WPS Mural Festival 2026, a nationwide initiative that brings artists together to create public artworks inspired by the West Philippine Sea. The festival encourages visual interpretations of Filipino identity, coastal and maritime life, environmental care, peace, and collective memory — while remaining respectful and non-partisan in approach.

“This is a tribute to Filipinos whose lives are intertwined with the sea, this artwork reflects the rich marine life and quiet beauty of the West Philippine Sea. It embodies a sense of peace alongside a steadfast pride, symbolizing resilience, unity, and a deep connection to the nation’s waters. Capturing the enduring spirit of the Pearl of the Orient, and preserving its legacy for future generations of Filipinos. Ating dagat, ating kinabukasan.”
